wp2pgpmail

Installation

From zip file to encrypted notifications in about five minutes.

Before you start

  • WordPress 5.0+, PHP 7.3+ and Gravity Forms (any license), active on the site.
  • The plugin zip and your license key: both are in your account and in your order email.
  • The recipient's PGP public key. None yet? Generate a key pair.

1. Install the plugin

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose gravityforms_pgp_encryption.zip, then Activate.

2. Enter your license key

Go to PGP Public Keys → License, paste your key, save, then click Activate License. Updates will then appear on the Plugins page like any other plugin.

3. Add the recipient's public key

Go to PGP Public Keys → Add New, enter the recipient's email address and paste the whole public key block, from -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- to the matching END line.

The email address must be exactly the address the notification is sent to: that is how the plugin picks the key.

4. Mark the notification

Open a form in Gravity Forms, then Settings → Notifications. Edit the notification and add [encrypted] anywhere in its subject, for example:

New request from {Name:1} [encrypted]

Submit the form once to test: the email should arrive as a PGP message that your private key opens.

5. Optional settings

Under PGP Public Keys → Settings you can, per form:

  • delete Gravity Forms entries once the notification is sent;
  • force plain-text notifications, which decrypt more cleanly in some mail clients;

and choose whether uploaded files are encrypted and attached as .pgp files (on by default).
